Why Intercompany E-Invoicing?
Businesses with several affiliated companies face the challenge of correctly allocating internal services, flows of goods and cost sharing. This intercompany accounting is essential for transparent and tax-compliant accounting. Until now, traditional invoices were often exchanged between group companies and posted manually – a time-consuming and error-prone process.
The Growth Opportunities Act 2027 will fundamentally change this: Intercompany invoices must also be created and processed as e-invoices in future. Companies are therefore required to convert their invoicing processes to structured, electronic formats such as XRechnung or ZUGFERD in order to remain legally compliant and avoid penalties.
This also affects SAP systems, as IDoc transfers in intercompany billing will also be phased out from 2027.
